Citroën C1 - Insurance group 1E

The Citroën C1 is a favourite of new drivers and people living in built-up areas. It’s small, nippy around town, easy to park and cheap to insure.

It’s also a great first car. The small engine means low insurance, group 1E that should be cheap to insure whatever your experience.

The C1 is light inside, has a basic, but comfortable interior and can come with DAB radio, MP3 compatibility, air conditioning, alloy wheels, touchscreen and a reversing camera depending on the trim you buy.

Renault Clio - Insurance group 3E

The Renault Clio has been a firm favourite for over 20 years, and for good reason. It’s stylish, easy to drive, stable at speed and can be configured to be anything you want it to be.

It’s another great city car but is capable on the motorway too. There is enough room for 4 to sit in comfort, decent boot space and great visibility. All useful features in a small car.

Dacia Sandero - Insurance group 3E

All Dacia cars are relatively cheap to insure but the Sandero particularly so. Not only is it incredibly good value, it has impressively low running costs too.

The new updated Sandero looks amazing. It’s roomy yet easy to manoeuvre, easy to park and easy to own. It’s also one of the cheapest new cars you can buy that doesn’t feel cheap.

The Dacia Sandero can come with air conditioning, remote central locking, touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control and other goodies depending on the trim.

MG3 - Insurance group 4E

The MG3 is one of a number of models MG now manufactures and it’s a bargain. It’s a city car that’s cheap to buy, to run and to own but looks and feels anything but cheap.

The design is modern with soft lines and lots of glass that provides good visibility all round. The car is also great around town and easy to park, while allowing you to have a little fun when you leave town.

Volkswagen Polo - Insurance group 1E

The Ford Fiesta should need no introduction. It’s the classic small car and has been on our roads forever. It’s a best-seller and comes a close third behind the Citroën C1 and Renault Clio for popularity.

The Fiesta has grown in size over the years but is still a small, cheap car. It has lots of interior space, it’s easy to drive and comes with some smooth engines.
